China’s import of palm oil in January 2018

    According to customs data, January imports of palm oil were around 468,129 tonnes, falling 98,948 tonnes by 17.4% from 567,077 tonnes in December 2017. Besides, imports was also 12.5% lower than the same month of last year (535,031 tonnes), with a reduction of 66,902 tonnes. To be specific, China imported 341,198.717 tonnes of 24-degree palm oil, down 75,730.375 tonnes from 416,929.092 tonnes attained in last December and 121,982.92 tonnes of 44-degree palm oil with a reduction of 25,271.394 tonnes when compared with last December’s 147,254.314 tonnes.

    Details for China’s imports of palm oil in January: 319,928 tonnes from Indonesia, down 44,588 tonnes by 12.2% from last December’s 364,516 tonnes, and down 53,784 tonnes by 14.4% from 373,712 tonnes on a year-on-year basis; about 148,113 tonnes from Malaysia, decreasing by 26.8% or 54,321 tonnes below from 202,434 tonnes last December, and down 13,206 tonnes by 8.2% from 161,319 tonnes the same month of last year; about 89 tonnes from Thailand.
