Cofeed News: according to customs data, March imports of soybeans totaled 5,660,000 tonnes, generally up 240,000 tonnes by 4.43% from February’s 5,420,000 tonnes, but with a comparison to March a year ago, imports still fell 670,000 tonnes from 6,330,000 tonnes by 10.58%. Generally, USA was still the largest supplier for China’s March imports, to be specific, about 3,099,562 tonnes were from USA, while roughly 2,332,516 tonnes came from Brazil, the second largest supplier for China’s soybean imports.
Overall, China imported 43,654,200 tonnes of soybeans in year 2017/2018 (as from October 2017), a year-on-year rise of 2,087,300 tonnes by 5.02% from 41,566,900 tonnes. Robust demand for feed ingredient in livestock and healthy crush margins contribute to the raised imports.
