China’s Soybean Crush Weekly (Week 35, 2018)

2018-09-03 www.cofeed.com
The operation rate falls further this week (Aug. 25th- 31st) as more and more mills have to suspend operation for machine overhaul near the end of August. Consequently, national soybean crush is cut to 1,858,410 tonnes (1,468,143 tonnes of soybean meal, 353,097 tonnes of soybean oil), down 57,290 tonnes or 2.99% from 1,915,700 tonnes last week. Meantime, soybean processing rate (capacity utilization) also declines from 54.84% to 53.20% on the week, about 1.64 percentage points lower. Total soybean crush, according to Cofeed, will probably come into at 1.75 Mln tonnes in week 36 next week and at 1.87 Mln tonnes in week 36 on grounds that machine overhaul is to continue next week with lowered operation rate.

Soybean crush in year 2017/2018 (as from 1 October 2017) now amounts to 82,060,872 tonnes, a rise of 1,575,795 tonnes or 1.9% as compared to 80,485,077 tonnes in year 2016/17. National soybean crush in calendar year 2018 (as from 1 January 2018) has totaled 57,455,252 tonnes, still 329,027 tonnes or 0.56% lower than 57,784,279 tonnes on a year-on-year basis.
