NBS: Sept CPI up 3% year on year, pork prices up 69.3%

In September 2019, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.0% from a year earlier, with an increase of 2.8% in urban and 3.6% in rural area. The food prices went up by 11.2%, and the non-food prices increased 1.0%. The prices of consumer goods moved higher by 4.0% and the prices of services grew by 1.3%. From January to September, on average, the overall consumer prices were up by 2.5% from the same period of the previous year.
 
In September, the consumer prices increased by 0.9% month on month, with an increase of 0.7% in urban and 1.3% in rural area. Among them, the price of foodstuff, non-foodstuff, and consumer goods went up by 3.5%, 0.2%, 1.5% respectively, while services went down by 0.1%. (source: National Bureau of Statistics of China)
