China’s Rapeseed Crush Weekly (Week 47, 2019)
This week (Nov. 16th-22nd), operation rates for rapeseed crush have slightly declined in coastal regions. The crush in 101 domestic mills surveyed by Cofeed has totaled 36,960 tonnes (imported rapeseed 35,000 tonnes and domestic rapeseed 1,960 tonnes), down 8,000 tonnes by 17.79% from 44,960 tonnes last week. Meanwhile, the operation rate (capability utilization) has moved down to 7.38% from 8.97% last week, of which it remains at 0.73% for domestic rapeseed; and it has gone lower to 16.95% from 20.82% last week for imported rapeseed in coastal regions. The supply of imported rapeseed is decreasing as the import still gets impeded by pending issues between China and Canada. The crush is predicted to fall further to 15,000 tonnes next week and to 8,000 tonnes that following week as most mills will suspend production amid rapeseed shortages. But several mills have had new rapeseed cargoes at ports waiting for customs clearance.
