China’s Customs: grain imports decline while meat imports sharply increase in 2019
China imported 17.85 million tonnes of grain and grain meal in 2019, down 2.65 million tonnes or 12.9% from 20.50 million tonnes in 2018.
Soybean imports totaled 88.511 million tonnes in 2019, up 474,000 tonnes or 0.5% from 88.037 million tonnes in 2018.
Meat imports grew with a fast pace. Among them, pork imports saw a year-on-year increase of 75% to 2.108 million tonnes in 2019, and beef imports saw a a year-on-year increase of 59.7% to 1.659 million tonnes.
