NBS: Feb CPI up 5.2% y/y, pork prices up 135.2% y/y
In February 2020, the Consumer Price Index rose 5.2% from a year earlier, with an increase of 4.8% in urban and 6.3% in rural area. The food prices went up by 21.9%, with an increase of 135.2% in pork prices, and the non-food prices increased 0.9%. The prices of consumer goods moved higher by 7.9% and the prices of services grew by 0.6%. From January to February, on average, the overall consumer prices were up by 5.3% from the same period of the previous year.
In February, the consumer prices increased by 0.8% month on month, with an increase of 0.8% in urban and 0.9% in rural area. Among them, the price of foodstuff went up by 4.3%, non-foodstuff declined by 0.2%, consumer goods went up by 1.4%, and services went down by 0.2%. (source: National Bureau of Statistics)
