I. Rapeseed: stocks and port arrivals
This week (ended Mar. 13th), rapeseed inventory totals 225,000 tonnes in domestic coastal areas, a small increase of 16,000 tonnes by 7.65% from 209,000 tonnes last week yet down by 64.09% from 626,500 tonnes of the corresponding period last year. Among them, stock in Guangxi, Guangdong and Fujian is 224,000 tonnes, up 10.34% from 203,000 tonnes last week yet down by 52.89% from 475,500 tonnes of the same week in the previous year. Rapeseed imports are small amid a stalemate between China and Canada. The imports will include 60,000 tonnes from Australia and 120,000 tonnes from Canada in March, and also 60,000 tonnes from Australia and 120,000 tonnes from Canada in April. Only when there is a thaw between China and Canada will Chinese firms start to buy Canadian rapeseed substantially. Currently, only several private importers and foreign-owned firms still have rapeseed arriving at ports. Rapeseed has a tight supply prospect.
