I. Rapeseed: stocks and port arrivals

This week (ended Mar. 27th), rapeseed inventory totals 247,000 tonnes in domestic coastal areas, a small increase of 14,000 tonnes or 6.01% from 233,000 tonnes last week yet down by 62.94% from 666,500 tonnes of the corresponding period last year. Among them, stock in Guangxi, Guangdong and Fujian is 186,000 tonnes, up 8.14% from 172,000 tonnes last week yet down by 61.45% from 482,500 tonnes of the same week in the previous year. Rapeseed imports are small amid a stalemate between China and Canada. The imports will include 60,000 tonnes from Australia and 118,000 tonnes from Canada in March, and 60,000 tonnes from Australia and 240,000 tonnes from Canada in April. Only when there is a thaw between China and Canada will Chinese firms start to buy Canadian rapeseed substantially. Currently, only several private importers and foreign-owned firms still have rapeseed arriving at ports.
