China’s Rapeseed Crush Weekly (Week 14, 2020)

Following a slight rise in operation rates among coastal mills this week (Mar. 28-Apr. 3), rapeseed crush in 101 domestic mills surveyed by Cofeed has totaled 53,000 tonnes (imported rapeseed 53,000 tonnes and domestic rapeseed 0 tonne), up 9,000 tonnes or 20.45% from 44,000 tonnes last week. Meanwhile, the operation rate (capability utilization) goes up to 10.58% this week from 8.78% last week, of which it is 0% for domestic rapeseed; and it moves higher to 25.67% this week from 21.31% last week for imported rapeseed in coastal regions. The crush is expected to pick up further to 69,500 tonnes next week, and then it will fall again to 59,500 tonnes that following week as several mills will be idle for rapeseed shortages. Due to rapeseed shortages, the overall crush remains at a relatively low level at present.
