NBS: Q1 hog stocks up 3.5% and sow up 9.8% in China
In the first quarter of 2020, poultry and egg production went up by 4.3%, and the production of pork, beef, mutton and poultry meat totaled 18.13 mln tonnes in China, according to National Bureau of Statistics.
Hog production capacity keeps recovering in China. By the end of the first quarter, hog stocks were 321,200,000 heads, an increase of 3.5% from the fourth quarter in 2019. Among them, sow stocks were 33,810,000 heads, up by 9.8%. Pork price rose 122.5%, of which it grew by 116.4% in March, a reduction of 18.8 percentage points from February.
