NBS: April CPI up 3.3% y/y, pork prices up 96.9% y/y
In April 2020, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.3% from a year earlier, with an increase of 3.0% in urban and 4.0% in rural area, according to National Bureau of Statistics of China. The food prices went up by 14.8% and the non-food prices increased 0.4%. The prices of consumer goods moved higher by 4.7% and the prices of services grew by 0.9%.
From January to April , on average, the overall consumer prices were up by 4.5% from the same period of the previous year.
In terms of food, edible meat prices rose 66.7% from a year earlier, of which pork prices went up 96.9%.
