China imported about 300,000 tonnes of sugar in May, a month-on-month increase of 180,000 tonnes yet a year-on-year reduction of 80,000 tonnes; Jan-May imports totaled about 820,000 tonnes, a reduction of 100,000 tonnes from the corresponding period last year,  according to data by China's General Administration of Customs.
