Heilongjiang Province

Typhoons greatly impacted Heilongjiang producing regions, where corn crops were severely battered especially in Suihua and Daqing. It is still difficult to measure the impact on production, but field losses and mildew are inevitable.

Jilin Province

The corn belt in Jilin also suffered different levels of influence, of which Songyuan and Dehui were the most severely hit with 70-80% of crops flattened in several regions. Other regions like Yushu and Gongzhuling will also face some cuts but the influence is small.

Liaoning Province

Liaoning was just affected very slightly by typhoons, and the production is actually influenced by severe drought at an early stage, particularly in western producing regions. And excess rains recently are also unfavorable to corn crops.

The production in the above three provinces usually takes up for nearly 40% of the total in China. The reduction in production is based on field and phone surveys by Cofeed team, and the data can only be take as a reference now.

It is a foregone conclusion that corn will face a production reduction in China this year. As for final production, participants can focus on weather and harvest in the coming weeks.
