China imported about 680,000 tonnes of sugar in August, up 370,000 tonnes or 119.35% from 310,000 tonnes in July, according to data by China's General Administration of Customs.

Jan-Aug imports totaled 2.2364 mln tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 261,200 tonnes or 13.25% from 1.9748 mln tonnes.
