China imported about 140,000 tonnes of cotton in August, a month-on-month decline of 8,300 tonnes or 5.6%, and a year-on-year increase of 48,100 tonnes or  52.34%; Jan-Aug imports totaled about 1.1866 mln tonnes, a reduction of 245,100 tonnes from the corresponding period last year, according to data by China's General Administration of Customs.
