The most-active contract for sugar futures on China’s Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange keeps range-bound after low opens. As of 11:30 am, the most-active May contract settles 4 CNY/tonne lower at 5,210 CNY/tonne with the high of 5,225 CNY/tonne and the low of 5,180 CNY/tonne; nearby January contract closes 22 CNY/tonne lower at 5,120 CNY/tonne with the high of 5,120 CNY/tonne and the low of 5,120 CNY/tonne.
Spot sugar prices stay mostly stable today. New sugar is priced steadily at 5,180-5,240 CNY/tonne in Guangxi; in Yunnan, new sugar is flat at 5,280-5,310 CNY/tonne in Kunming and 5,210-5,280 CNY/tonne in Dali; new sugar is unchanged at 5,170-5,230 CNY/tonne in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Likewise, processed sugar prices keep steady today. Grade I carbonized sugar is unchanged at 5,350 CNY/tonne in Fujian, 5,290 CNY/tonne in Guangdong, 5,300 CNY/tonne in Shandong, 5,290 CNY/tonne in Liaoning, and 5,290 CNY/tonne in Hebei. Besides, beet sugar remains flat at 5,140 CNY/tonne in Inner Mongolia.
Zhengzhou sugar futures fluctuate at a narrow range in morning trade, while spot markets are mostly stable. But as there is a lack of bulk purchases, spot sugar market is predicted to keep range-bound in the afternoon.
