China imported about 912,965 tonnes of sugar in December, up 206,664 tonnes or 29.26% from 706,301 tonnes in November and up 697,998 tonnes or 324.7% from 214,967 tonnes a year earlier, according to data by China's General Administration of Customs. And the import unit price was USD332.69 per tonne averagely, down USD2.45 per tonne compared to USD335.14 in Nov yet up USD1.3 from USD333.99 in Dec 2019.
Sugar imports totaled 5.2727 mln tonnes in Jan-Dec 2020, a year-on-year increase of 1.8794 mln tonnes or 55.39% from 3.39933 mln tonnes. In 2020/21, China’s sugar imports were 2.4993 mln tonnes, up 1.5008 mln tonnes or 150.29% versus 998,550 tonnes in 2019/20.
