China’s Customs: Dec palm oil imports up 8.99% y/y

China imported 784,571.293 tonnes of palm oil in December, up 141,860.281 tonnes or 22.07% from 642,711.012 tonnes in the previous month and up 64,709.473 tonnes or 8.99% from 719,861.82 tonnes a year earlier, according to China’s Customs.

 

Dec RBD palm olein imports accounted for 620,062.546 tonnes, up 157,335.525 tonnes from 462,727.021 tonnes in the previous month; palm stearin imports were 164,508.747 tonnes, down 15,475.244 tonnes from 179,983.991 tonnes in the previous month.

 

China’s palm oil imports totaled 6,412,264.476 tonnes from Jan to Dec in 2020, down 1,059,163.731 tonnes or 14.18% from 7,471,428.207 tonnes year over year.

 

In December, China imported 547,313.344 tonnes of palm oil from Indonesia, up 99,085.059 tonnes or 22.1% from 448,228.285 tonnes in the previous month and up 94,589.802 tonnes or 20.89% from 452,723.542 tonnes a year earlier; China imported 237,257.349 tonnes from Malaysia, up 43,046.862 tonnes or 22.16% from 194,210.487 tonnes in the previous month but down 29,871.521 tonnes or 11.18% from 267,128.87 tonnes year over year.
