In the year of 2020, China’s industrial feed production achieved rapid growth, driven by such factors as a sustained recovery in hog production, huge poultry stocks and brisk production and sales in cattle and sheep products, said China's Feed Association in a report.
In 2020, China’s industrial feed production totaled 252,761,000 tonnes, up 10.4% on year. Of it, mixed batch production was 230,705,000 tonnes, up 9.8% on year; concentrated feed production 15,148,000 tonnes, up 22.0%; and additive premix production 5,945,000 tonnes, up 9.6%.
In terms of products, hog feed production was 89,225,000 tonnes, up 16.4% on year, equivalent to 86% of its all-time high in 2018. Egg-laying poultry feed production was 33,519,000 tonnes, up 7.5%. Table poultry feed production is 91,758,000 tonnes, up 8.4% on year. Ruminant feed production was 13,188,000 tonnes, up 18.9% on year. The production for aforementioned three products all hit a fresh historical high. Aquatic feed production was 21,236,000 tonnes, down 3.6% on year. Pet feed production was 963,000 tonnes, up 10.6% on year. Other feed production was 2,872,000 tonnes, up 18.7% on year.
In terms of sales mode, bulk feed production totaled 58,976,000 tonnes, up 33.6% on year. It took up 25.6% of the total mixed batch production, an increase of 4.6 percentage points from last year.
