China imported 200,000 tonnes of sugar in March, down 228,600 tonnes or 53.33% from 428,600 tonnes in the previous month but up 117,000 tonnes or 140.96% from 83,000 tonnes a year earlier, data from China’s Customs showed.

China’s sugar imports total 1.25 mln tonnes from January to March 2021, up 843,200 tonnes or 207.28% from 406,800 tonnes a year earlier. So far, China’s sugar imports total 3.75 mln tonnes in 2020/21 (Oct-Sept), up 2.3483 mln tonnes or 167.53% from 1.4017 mln tonnes a year earlier.
