China’s Customs: Mar soybean imports up 81.57% y/y

China imported 7.7671 mln tonnes of soybeans in March, up 2.2052 mln tonnes or 39.65% from 5.5619 mln tonnes in previous month and up 3.4893 tonnes or 81.57% from 4.2778 mln tonnes in March 2020, according to data from China’s Customs.

 

Jan-Mar soybean imports total 21.1739 mln tonnes, up 3.3834 tonnes or 19.02% from 17.7905 mln tonnes year on year.

 

In March, China imported 315,300 tonnes of soybeans from Brazil, up 281,900 tonnes or 841.49% from 33,500 tonnes in previous month and down 1.7835 mln tonnes or 84.98% from 2.0988 mln tonnes a year earlier. From January to March, China’s soybean imports from Brazil total 1.347 mln tonnes, down 5.8909 mln tonnes or 81.39% from 7.2379 mln tonnes year over year.

 

In March, China imported 7.1787 mln tonnes of soybeans from the U.S., down 1.8931 mln tonnes or 35.82% from 5.2856 mln tonnes in the previous month and up 5.4671 mln tonnes or 319.40% from 1.7117 mln tonnes a year earlier. From January to March, China’s soybean imports from the U.S. total 19.1316 mln tonnes, up 11.3186 mln tonnes or 144.87% from 7.8129 mln tonnes year over year.

 

In March, China imported 0 tonne of soybeans from Argentina. From January to March, China’s soybean imports from Argentina total 101,100 tonnes, down 2.0374 mln tonnes or 95.27% from 2.1385 mln tonnes year over year.

 

In March, China imported 102,200 tonnes of soybeans from Russia, up 49,700 tonnes from 52,200 tonnes or 94.67% in the previous month and down 13,500 tonnes or 11.67% from 115,700 tonnes a year earlier. From January to March, China’s soybean imports from Russia total 194,100 tonnes, down 77,400 tonnes or 28.52% from 271,500 tonnes year over year.
